door casing with rosettes

door casing with rosettes

do i put the casing up first or the rosettes up first?

Install both side casings, then the rosettes, then the head casing.

It depends how you are fastening them. I used to biscuit join the corner blocks (rosettes) onto the ends of the head casing first... and installing that as one unit, and then cut the sides to length and glue them to the bottom of the corner block.

Lately I've enjoyed using pocket screws to fasten the entire casing together prior to nailing it up. It results in a flawless joint and less glue squeezeout.
