poly finish help

I would like to finish my table with a resin look, but I don't want to use resin. Is there any way to achieve the same, or close to , look using polyurethene.

you mean that poured look? no there isn't. Those pour-on finishes end up with about 1/8 inch thick film, there is no real good way to duplicate that without running a major risk of it cracking.

The closest I ever came to that was about 12 coats of tung oil on a gun stock I made. Rub and wipe, rub and wipe, etc., etc. This will likely not work on open grain wood such as oak(takes a lot of etc's), but does wonderfully on walnut.
