Refinishing Cypress Floors
I'm in the process of refinishing an original cypress hardwood floor. There are a couple areas of the floor where there are large holes. Can anyone recommend a similar wood to cypress to fill those holes? I've tested stain on the cypress and then pine, but the pine stains totally different. Might wood putty be the way to go?
Thanks in advance for any information.

Michelle,
Those cypress floors will be absolutely be fantastic when you're finished!
The areas with holes sounds like some of the knotty areas or areas with burl. Frankly, I'd fill the areas with a good quality wood filler. The filler needs to be very finely granulated (almost like toothpaste), and any deep areas should be filled with no more than 1/4 inch of filler at a time to allow for thorough drying and reduced shrinking.
Good luck with your floors!!
