Cool New Cabinet=urgent Response

My husband has built a stepped-cabinet for our billiard room...the problem...he used a minwax stain on the bare wood and used a cherry wood tone stain spray by Design Master over it. He has a Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane that he was going to use over that to seal and protect the wood. Is this what he should use, or is there something else?

The process he's using is ok. The toner is a lacquer based product. It is safe to put a urethane product over a lacquer base. It doesn't work the other way around!!

Let's us know if you should have any other questions.

Wink

So he is safe to use the minwax polyurethane sealer? Would he also be able to use a spray type polyurethane? He has detailed wood.

A spray can of poly should be fine.
