Help with 120 year old wooden box

Hi,

I just inherited a 120 year old teak-wood box from my Grandma. I know that it has been polished by my grandma about 10 years ago. But she said the quality of the polish was poor.

I want to restore the finish of the box to ensure it looks 120 years old. Right now it looks dark and has paint flecks on it ( leftovers from a house painting job undertaken by my grandma). The box has been lying in her attic from the past 50 years. We live in India and so the box has been exposed to humidity. Also there was some tapes stuck on the box and the last polish was done over these. When I removed the tapes, some of the old polish, came off leaving light colored gaps in the box.

Please guide me on what would be a simple and easy way to 1) Remove old and bad polish 2) restore the box to its original glory.
