minwax stain/varnish
i coated an old bureau with the above. it was cleaned and slightly sanded beforehand. it is n ow a week and it's still sticky to the touch. what did i do wrong and how to correct. thanks ahead

Was each a separate process or did you use Poly shades?? If the stain was not fully dry it might slow drying somewhat, but it should no be that long. And high humidity can slow drying, but not sure what to suggest at this point. Give it some more time and see what happens, otherwise get out the stripper.

how much stain did you apply? did you wipe it off? how many coats of finish? how heavy?
I had a customer put Minwax polyurathane on bar top (don't ask why, I sell much better products). after a month it was still slightly tacky. This was because he did not let the poly dry long enough between coats. according to minwax, the stain needs to dry for three-four days to be fully dry. longer for the topcoats.
your best bet is to not touch it, and let it sit longer. It should eventually dry.
