Dent and scratch repair in cherry finished cabinets!!!!

I was wondering how I would go about repairing dents and scratches in a finished cherry cabinet? I wanna know the best way to go about this. Thanks. Here is a picture of it:

That will be difficult to do and make the repairs invisible. It might be easier to clean them up and finish over them, adds character. Cherry is very hard and to sand that much out of the surface would take off too much wood. I would first attempt to mix a filler putty to match the color. There are lots of fillers that say stainable, but few really are, they either stain too light or too dark. Maybe others here can offer more hope.

I agree with Bill, a light sanding followed by a coat of poly while it won't eliminate the nicks, it will make them less visable.
