Stain over stain for oak

I have an oak wall unit, I removed the two folding doors because they were on a track and I need the extra space to fit an LCD TV the problem is they installed the track hardware then finished the wood so now I have bare oak wood with stain streaks behind where the hardware was. What is the best way to fix this up. Also I have some screw holes that are raised so do I sand and fill or fill in after I stain? Thanks

You might be better off installing a thin piece of wood [stained to match] to hide the raw wood. Otherwise you need to scrape and sand off any heavy stain that leaked under the track, then stain, paying particular attention to the color and removing any stain off of the varnish/poly.
