Finshing help,please
Hey everyone:
I am in the process of refinishing a footstool made out of pine for one of my sons. I have sanded and applied three coats of a Poly, satin finish. My error and I did not notice it until now, I wanted a gloss finish..
My question is, can I scuff it with 320 wet and dry paper and add say, three coats of gloss poly? Will it adhere good and what will it look like?
I don't have time to sand down to bare wood, so any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks and take care
Dan

No need to sand it all the way down or apply 3 coats of gloss, 1 coat may be enough. IMO 320 grit is a little fine but should do ok, I'd use 220 grit. Don't forget to remove the sanding dust before you apply the gloss poly.

Hey:
Thanks for the help! I do appreciate it..
This is one of those projects that just would not go away.. I had the stool completely finished and then closed my shop door, it hit the table the stool was on and put a nice dent in the wood and finish.. so I had to resand to bare wood.
Anyway, thanks again and have a Merry Christmas!
