Getting a paint stain out of wood

I have an old oak desk that needs to be refinished. My daughter spilled some kind of paint, I believe it might be acrylic, that has soaked into the wood. Is there any way to get that dark purple stain out of the wood without sanding?

Welcome to the forums!

A solvent [liquid deglosser, lacquer thinner] might wash it up but whatever you use, it will still need sanding.
