smoke damaged furniture

I have a rustic looking ent. center with no finish on it that has smoke damage. What can I do to get the soot out of the wood?

Check at your local hardware or paint store for a product called "TSP" (trisodium phosphate). This is a heavy duty cleaner that will dissolve smoke and soot. If you can't find the product, "Spic 'N Span" can be substituted.

Mix the solution with luke warm water and scurb over the surfaces lightly using a soft bristle brush or a wash mit. This will lift the soot and a rinse with a light spray mist from your garden hose. Be sure to dry the piece with a couple of old towels. Allow the piece to thoroughly dry in front of a fan.
