Need to Finish Front Door? What do you Put in its place?

I have been asked to Poly Finish a Wooden Front door. ITs 40-50 degrees here in New England. I like to do my varnishing and poly finishes horizontal on horses whenever I can. And would like to do it in a heated room. My dilema is what do I do to replace the Front door in the mean time? Besides the Garage its the main source for all who use this busy household? The last door I refinished was during the summer and they had a storm door as a substitute. Security is an issue also?
IT would be interesting to know what others use.
I am sure it would be easier in the summer I could remount it between coats. But the cold makes it more difficult for drying?
thanks for all suggestions!

I rarely do any outside work when the temps are low. You say it's the main entrance - is there another door they can use? if so you could screw a piece of plywood over the opening, otherwise you would have to find another door the same size [and hope the hardware is in the right places] or wait for warmer weather.
