How to refinish rattan?
I have just acquired a rattan table and chairs and the finish is a yellowy almost orange colour. The set is in great shape so I'm hoping we can somehow change the colour without painting. Would like to end up with a dark /mahogany like finish. Any experience with this??

You can always make a darker color from your current finish.
But it rather difficult to do. You need to find the right stain color to sprayed on your old finish. You also need to find the compatible clear coating with your old finish.
Your better try in small area first to make sure it work before apply on whole case.
Clean up the old finish surface with a mineral spirit and spray your stain. You cannot apply too thick stain since it will kill the grain character of your wood. Do highlighting on your stain with steel wool to enhanced the finishing looked.
After you get the color you need to coat with a top coat that is compatible with your old finish.
Refinishing the old finish
Good luck
