Pine raised panel door with burn marks from a torch

I have a very old paneled pine door. It had been painted and someone had used a torch on it and burned the door in several places. I recently had the varnish stripped but the burn marks are still significant even after sanding. Is there anything that can be applied that will lessen or eliminate the burns?

Sad to say, paint is the only thing that will lessen or eliminate the marks. Once wood is burned, sanding down to unburned wood is the only solution. If you are an excellent faux artist you might be able to touchup the burn marks with paint and/or a glaze that matches your stain color, which might help disguise the burn marks.

What are your finishing plans? A pic or two might be helpful.
