External Oak - Black Spots

Hi - help please!

Recently put together a new external oak frame in English Green Oak. Upon erecting the frame, I asked the carpenter on whether we should treat the frame but was advised "leave it natural and it will go nice and silver.." - now its about 3 months on and there are black spots on the oak and stained..

I asked again, what I should do and was advised to use "Tannic Acid" and then a normal oak preserver.

Does anyone see any issues in doing this or have any better ideas on how I can tackle the problem??

Or the other option is to use "Libron Bleacher" ??

Thoughts???
