Plz help to name this in English and guide me how to mix to make it

Dear all,

I'm working in Thanhphuphat Furniture (in Vietnam), I'm looking for a way to make "decorative poly molding" (not sure I call it right), plz see attached photo.

I mixed poly with "rock powder" (just translated from vietnamese) and clay, with many mixture ratio, and then I add a little hardener.

But what I got is a very hard stuff, I want it elastic poly.

Thanks in advance.

P/S. I'm looking for the mixing method via google, but I don't know exactly the name in english, plz tell me if I call it "polyurethane" right or wrong?

I think what you are using is polyester. It is mixed with a catalyst hardener and used for fiberglass and auto body work. If you want something soft and rubbery, look at latex or silicone. Check out mold making supply websites.

I believe you may be looking for "flexible urethane casting resin" ?

Are you wanting this product to make the mold?

...or to make the final product- your decorative trim?

I'm trying to make that flexible urethane casting resin, my factory often buys it from a sub-contractor, my boss wants me learn how to make it.

Wow.....trying to make it. That's going to be very tricky. It's a varied blend of a lot of chemicals. This project is going to take a bit of research and a lot of trial and error experimenting.

If that's the case, latex rubber would probably be a better bet. Go to Youtube dot com and enter "latex rubber mold".

I think that's not latex rubber mold, when I see the model product in my hand, I think it contents poly liquid (clear or pink color is the same), play sand and (maybe) clay. There must be another ingredient that I don't know, this ingredient make the molding "flexible" or elastic.
