Antique headboard

Okay, so I'm not sure it's antique. But it is solid wood and beautiful. It is an old bed hook headboard and I don't have the side rails. I want to attach it to a metal frame. I ordered a bed hook adapter but it doesn't work with this headboard. The hook slots are more narrow and shallow than the kit. Also the metal frame is about six inches or so lower than where the hooks would be placed. Anyone have other suggestions as to how I can get the headboard attached to the metal frame?

Doesn't the metal frame have a flange on it for bolts? Locate the frame on the headbaord, mark the location for the bolts, then drill the headboard appropriately so you can through bolt the headboard to the frame.
