Lifted the finish

Something was set down on my brand new dining room table and lifted the finish in a credit card sized area. I want to know how or if I can fix this without refinishing the entire table. The finish is now raised and somewhat sticky. What do I do?

Whatever the "something" was has destroyed the finish in that area. The easiest way to fix it would be to strip and redo the top. Refinishingt he entire table is not necessary
