hOW DO YOU USE SAWDUST IN STRIPPING? I'VE HEARD IT CAN BE HELPFULL IN REMOVING OLD FINISHES.

I don't do a lot of striaght woodworking in my shop, but I have used sawdust with stripper when available.

It's primary plus is removing the sludge left by paint/varnish removers after they've attacked the finish. Makes the stuff a lot easier to handle (by soaking it up) and helps clean the surface off with a minimum use of additional solvents.
