Question

I have a sofa chair that has recently experienced some color fading. A beautiful piece that until now, looked like leather. Alas, it is not leather. It is a vinyl covering and I was hoping to get some information on how to restore its original color.

The sofa chair's vinyl covering is "wine red" in color. Do such dyes exist? Do they work well? Do they stain your clothing once completed and I resume sitting in this chair? Is it worth restoring it's color or is the cost simply not worth it?

I'm a lot mroe into wood than upholstery, so I'm going to make 2 suggestions:

1- Post this question in the upholstery forum on this web site (just a ocuple of notches down on the main forum menu).

2- Post it in the upholstery forum at the web sit elisted below -they're very active and have a number of experts on upholstery who can answer your questions.
