warped table leaf (drop)
#1
How can I straiten a warped table leaf. One of the joints has split between the top and bottom veneers and has caused the leaf to warp.

Crestly:
The split was probably caused by the warping - not the other way around.
The only solution I have had success with on veneered pieces is to strip them, clean them thoroughly, and leave them alone for a week or more in a stable (temperature and humidty controlled) environment. With both sides now able to 'breathe' many pieces will return to their original shape. Once they do, you need to seal BOTH sides, and refinish as needed.
