Kitchen Cabinets or Tiles first?

Hi all,

I was just wondering what everybody thinks of installing cabinets and then tiling around cabinets? Or should we tile everything and install cabinets on top. Something that I would like is on either side of my island I want different flooring. So on the kitchen side tile and on the other hardwood.

I see doing the floor exactly to where the cabinets end will be a precise measurement which I don't want to leave to chance and afterwards try and remove/cut back tile if needed.

Thoughts, tips, suggestions?

Thanks

It's common to build up the floor under the cabinets with plywood as tiling after the cabinets without that buildup can create height and opening issues (like for the dishwasher).

Ive always tiled then put cabinets down, a good tile job can easily support cabinets with even granite tops.

That's a perfectly fine solution until someone wants to re-tile. Not saying it's a bad solution, just pointing out the issue that can arise with it.
