Transfer photo to walnut, help please.

Hey everyone;
A few questions and some suggestions please.
I am finishing some Walnut, sanding to 600 and then applying a few coats of Watco Wood Oil.
I want to transfer some photos of my parents and then coat with a lacquer for long term protection of the photos.
So, how do I transfer the photos? I have seen many ways to do this, but want some guidance from some of you guys.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks and take care,
Dan in Albuquerque.

Be aware you should let the oil dry for at least 2 weeks before top coating with lacquer. I would use spray adhesive on the back of the photos, like 3M 77. And I would wait the 2 weeks before applying the photos as well.

I suggest you test the whole process with some scrap walnut and a scrap photo. I'd want to make sure the lacquer doesn't damage the photo or dissolve the adhesive, as the solvent is aggressive.

Do you want the image or the whole picture on the wood. There are ways to transfer just the image to the wood. Not sure how well they would work on a finished surface.
