pine wood not staining
Was making a height measuring ruler for my son. My markings of sharpie got smudged and after looking up i read wiping with wet wipes and sanding helps.
I did that and somehow it just isnt accepting staining after doing so.
outcome i have a patch on a fully stained wood😣
pls help this was my first ever project in hardware and im a total amateur.

Welcome to the forums!
Try sanding that area. I routinely run across spots on pine that won't take the stain correctly and a few licks with sandpaper [even if wet with stain] normally makes it take stain.
Next time use a pencil to make your marks!
