Large Hardwood Slab

Hello all,

How would one go about buying a large hardwood slab? Say 9 or 10 feet by 4 feet? I'm sure it's quite expensive, but just wondering if anyone has experience with this, and what types of prices to expect for the various hardwoods?

It would be a gift for someone to make a table top.

Your best bet would be a local saw mill. But it's not likely you will find anything that large unless you are in California and are looking for Redwood.

would also check with your local saw mills they probably wont have any logs that large though but they may be able to source one, the more economical approach would be buying 2 slabs and joining them to get the width you want, and be more readily available at a saw mill.
