New table isnít holding up, how to make it more durable ?

Hello all- we just got our new table after waiting since March!! Ugh! Anyway, now that itís here, and not returnable, Iím disappointed at how itís holding up. See the photosÖ there are places where itís chipped and lost itís colour. Itís supposed to be rustic-y but I didnít this it would get banged up so easy. It literally happened the first time we used it. Iím sure I can find a stain to match where itís chipped, but my question is, what product could
i put on it to protect it and make it more durable? I would like it to stay matte finish. Thanks in advance!

Looks good from far

The white area in the cracks is where itís chipped

You can cover the table with a piece of tempered glass.
