weathered white painting Q-2

I have a cabinet, hubby thinks it's melamine <sp> can this be primed and painted, then sanded and stained to make it weathered white style? It's new, and I'd hate to ruin it....any help???

With one exception, you've listed the steps needed in the right order. First, the piece MUST be sanded. Yes, it can be done.

painting unfinished table white

I recently purchased an unfinished pine table that I want to paint white. The owner of the furniture store said to wipe tung oil over any knot holes, let dry for 6-8 hours, then prime the table, sand and finally paint using enamel paint. However, the paint expert at LOWES told me to prime the table with 2 coats of latex primer, one coat of oil primer, then paint. I'm confused - which method is correct? (my main concern is to keep the knot holes from showing through) Thanks, LindaRead More

I have 2 dressers, and a bed that I'd like to "weather white" paint. The deal is, the dressers are the same style but different color ( brown stained and black ) hubby stripped and stained one, but not the other. What I need to know is, to do this tech. what primer should I use on all 3 pieces before I start. To make them even so to say. Also, does anyone know of any sites on this subject?
