Hot food was set on dining room table and left white spots. How do I eliminate the white spots without damaging the finish? I don't want to lose the look the table had.
The table is a fruitwood finish, and used to be very shiny and pretty.

Evoche:

Relatively new marks that aren't opaque can sometimes be removed by covering with mayonaise, leaving it on overnight, then wiping clean the next day. If that doesn't work, this method will.

Make a paste of baking soda and water. Using a damp sponge, rub the marks out. The sheen may be restored to the top by going over the entire top with a fine automotive abrasive such as Turtle Wax polishing Compound and Scratch Remover. Just follow the directions on the can.
