How to make a zero clearance insert for tablesaw. Riving knife in the way.

I want to make a zero clearance insert for my tablesaw. But if I were to raise the blade into the blank to cut the kerf, the riving knife would be in the way.

How do you make one of these with the riving knife in place?

I'd remove the riving knife, raise your blade up through your new insert and then modify that insert as needed so that you can put the riving knife back on.

I haven't found a way to remove it. I was thinking they made it permanently installed to avoid getting sued when someone wasn't careful enough when using it without a riving knife.

I'll investigate to see if I can remove it.
