Question which garage door opener?

Was wondering which openers are the best. Which Brand & which type (belt, chain, screw) are the most reliable and the best quality?

Chain is least expensive and noisier than screw or belt.

Screw is mid priced and is quieter than chain.

Belt is the most expensive and quietest.

Belt is normally used when a living space is directly above the garage.

I replaced 2 chain drive models with screw drive units. They are ALOT quieter than the 20 year old models.

Chamberlain and Genie comprise most of the residential openers. The Sears models are made by Chamberlain. I think Liftmaster is made by Chamberlain also. I do not think that Genie offers a belt drive.

I picked the Sears 75th anniversary model because of the price. It was a promo price of $160 for a screw drive, since I needed 2, it was the right price. Each came with 2 remotes, keypad and wall switch. If you plan on adding remotes, check the price before you buy the unit because the extra ones may cost alot of $.

If you replacing the door too I would look at wayne-dalton's i-drive. Mounts right on the spring, so no need to have it hanging down in the middle of the garage. Nice if you have a tall vehicle that you want to jack up.
