Question

How do I adjust the force on a Stanley garage door opener? I believe it has a round knob on the bottom with a square "key" inside. The round knob doesn't turn so I assume I need to turn the square thing inside, perhaps with a pair of long nose pliers. Also, are there any other adjustments I can make? My girlfriend's garage door recently started opening only half way, perhaps due to cold weather. She says the springs were replaced but how can I be sure they are the correct ones and that they were installed/adjusted properly?

Thanks!

you are correct the clutch adjustment is the round black handle on the bottom of her stanley take a pair of pliers and hold the inner part and turn the outer,BUT close the door disconnect it from the opener and open it by hand if the door moves freely and stays where ever you stop it then the spring is installed properly if the door doesnt then please please call a pro springs can do serious harm to a person if they dont know how to adjust them
