I'm having fun turning my separate carport into a garage. Been using 2x4 studs and 8x4 plywood to wall it in which has proved easy so far, I've even included a small utility/tool room with a screen door on it.

The only problem thus far has been trying to figure out an alternative to a roll-up garage door because the hieght of it will not allow my van and a roll-up garage door both to be used. I look at barn doors but they really don't look that good. Has anyone got any ideas on a different type of door that isn't a roll-up or a copy of a barn door that will fit in a close-quarters area? And how can I rig an unusual door for an automatic opener??

When you say barn door, I will assume you are talking about ?????????.
There are sliding doors, there are center opening doors (two doors which swing both ways and open in the center), swinging doors, slide up doors (not roll up). All of these kinds of doors will work. None on an opener. Your choice. Good Luck
