Have a 1/2 HP lift master garage door opener(model 1260) with no manual. On the outside of the motor box you have three screw terminals marked 1.2 and 3. I figured out that terminals 1 and 2 are for a momentary type switch to manually operate it. What is terminal 3 used for?

term. #3 is used for the safety beams, if the unit uses those.the white wire of the beams goes to #2 term., while the white/black wire goes to #3 term.

Just how much weight can this thing lift ? I realize that garage doors are counter balanced. will it lift a lathe chuck which weighs about 60 to 80 lbs? Mine is a 1/2 HP with plastic gears.
