Question MDF or DRYWALL

I am finishing the back wall of my garage and the framing is complete. I am thinking of using something else other than drywall. Has anybody ever used the compressed board?(MDF is what I think it is called).

Putting up drywall is such a painfull process

If you don't want drywall, consider OSB (oriented strand board), conventional exterior siding, or just plain plywood.

MDF is pretty, but not durable in its own right, it damages easily from impact, it absorbs moisture and swells and deteriorates, it won't hold screws for mounting things, it takes a lot of primer to prepare to paint, quality control is poor resulting in panels of varying thickness with consequent difficulty matching panels.

Hope this helps.
