Resetting garage opener codes

I recently moved into a new house. I have changed all the door locks but still have the old codes on my garage opener. How do I reset these codes to something of my choice or something just different from what is on it now?
Thanks

If you have one of the new openeners with the "Rolling Code" or similar technology you don't need to change anything as the code is automatically changed every time you press the button. If you have an old opener with a dipswitch you'll need to change the code on both the opener and the remotes. If you have an opener without dipswitches, but with a "learning button" you'll need to reset the opener, then reprogram the remotes.

What is a dipswitch? Reason I ask is I am in the same boat but I don't have have any receivers. I just have the big remote that sits on the outside of the house.

I have a Quantum Garage Opener 3213 Series and I took the remote off the outside wall of the garage and it says it is a Challenger Model 02-3039.

I can't find any info on that sucker.
