buying garage door openers online

Where is a really good place on the net to buy garage door remotes and other parts like a genie screw drive.

I looked around but its a little hard to tell since pricing seems to be all over the place. I found several good ones but what to know if anyone has a super site that they shop at.

Don't buy a Genie screw drive online or at a "big box" store either ( HomeDepot, etc).....Genie took the screw section and broke it into 3 pieces to get it in a box your average homeowner can take home in the car trunk. To put the screw/track back together, they give you this MICKEY MOUSE clip deal that I think AIN'T gonna have a long life.....

Buy a Genie "Pro" model from a local door place....you have to have a pickup to haul it home, but the track and screw are one pc and already assembled to the head. I've put up both and will never use the BigBox version again.

I've installed both, and right now I recommend only Chamberlain. They seem to be much better in my opinion (i.e. they have more metal parts compared to Genie).

My door will only open about a foot..It goes up and then shuts down. It happens even when the door is not connected.. I have checked all the cables...I have used my aircompressor to blow out all the dust...HELP

Hi, I'm having a garage built, 24x24 with a pair of garage doors, and it was recomended I go with 10' walls for extra headroom, but I don't want it to look stupid. I can't picture what it will look like, but I've been throwing around the idea of going with 8' tall doors to make it look more natural, and to accomadate larger trucks in the future. Are there any drawbacks to larger doors, or taller walls? Would a pair of 8x8 garage doors be reasonable ? (oops, I just measured again, and the openings in the foundation are 9' 6". Does that mean they will be 9'w doors?) And lastly, would it be unusual to go with 9' walls? Or is that just a whole lot of unneeded cutting from just 10' walls. I assume the price would be about the same. Thanks in advance, the foundation is already poured (so garage doors width won't be changing), and I will order lumber on Monday. Tom
