old garage needs new door and opener

I have a 1-car detached garage, about 50 years old. It's in good shape, wood frame, clapboard siding (needs scraping and painting) but really needs a new overhead door, and I want to add an opener. I want to replace it with something similar to what is there now, a panel door with 4 windows. I live in long-winter country. What are your experiences with vinyl or steel doors? Also, opinions on chain, belt, or screw type door openers?

a metal door for sure, insulated to help w/ noise & strength. as to openers, i dont know, get one w/ a good warrenty, 1/2 hp. hope this helps.

Uneven Garage Floor

My garage floor is cracked and peaked at the center. Other than an expensive floor job. I recall seeing some years ago about a product that attaches to the bottom of the door to make up for the gaps. Extra thick rubber is not enough. Any ideas or has anyone seen this product.

We have two 8 ft overhead doors on our 1959 ranch. Garage is cinderblock. The tracks for the garage doors are set about 2 inches in from the cinderblock opening. As a result, when the doors are closed you can look around the side of the track and see daylight. This lets in lots of cold air in the winter, not to mention Minnie and Mickey and all of their friends. Is there a good way to seal this space? Would Fiberglass batting do or should it be a rigid insulation? The rest of the garage is insulated and there is living space directly above it.
