garage sill

garage sill
My detached garage (1 car with loft) was built about 1920, the sill around part of the garage is no good. I need to jack up and replace sill, what would be the best material to use, wood/rubber and the best process to do it?

readerob,
Best and required material would be a wood treated plate.
The process is going to depend on how the structure was made. If it only has a single top plate the process is difficult and significant reinforcement must be done before lifing one side at a time unless you can have additional manpower to do a even lift with use of beams/jacks.
Based upon then age, wouldn't a new garage be in order? I know there is a cost issue at hand but if the plate is bad, it makes me wonder about the studs, especially near the existing plate.
Hope this helps!
