Garage door starting to get soft on bottom.
The paint started to peel at the bottom of my wooden door. It has a wooden frame with partical board veneer covering. Id like to get a few more years out of this door. Can I trim off 1/2" & glue & nail a treated strip of wood to the bottom? Prime & paint. Is it worth it? Or is this door on the way out?
Thanks

Sounds like your door is definately on it's way out. I don't have any idea how wide the bottom rail is on this type of door, but I would think you would be safe if you just cut off 1/2" to 3/4" and replaced it with treated wood. If it's already rotted, you shouldn't be weakening it any more than it already is and maybe even make it stronger. I guess the worst that could happen is you would have to buy a new door a little sooner than you hoped.
