Buy the correct length spring at Home Depot/Lowe's.
Open the door all the way.
There was a short chain on the bottom of my spring, bolted to the door frame. I counted the chain lengths for reference.
I removed the old spring, I had a safety cable running up the center of the spring.
I connected the new spring to the chain.
I very carefully grabbed the spring near the middle and with a squatting motion, like a weight lifter, I was able to stand upright and place the top hook into place.
With the tension removed from the spring it is really not that hard to do.
