beam span for garage/storage above
I need help! I am building a garage 24'x28' and i am planning on using the above for storage. I will have 2x8 floor joist spanning the 28 feet and a 6x12 beam spanning the 24 feet. Do I need a post in the center of the 6x12 to help support the weight or is a 24 foot span on 2x6 framing enough support. please help.

You will need several posts under your beam to support the weight of the joists above.
Consult your local building code office for load information, beam sizing, post spacing and size of concrete footers under your garage floor to support the posts.
