garage door remodel

three car garage originally designed to have th standard 16' door with the 10' door companion. local codes did require 24" separation betwen doors. Thought the fact that the car in the middle was not going to be able to move without moving one of the side cars was not going to be an issue. The fact of the matter is that it is. The question is: since the wall where the doors are located is not a bearing wall, can the center support for the laminated beam that frames the door be eliminated and a 24' door installed? Secondly is such a door available?

Thank you,

Antonio

yes it can be eliminated, second your header for a 24' door needt to be strong and brases on it going to a rafter to keep it from sagging.yes you can get a 24' door but most will have to order.i just put in a 20' industral door in mine and the header is made of 2x12 framed with 2x6 ,then tied into the first rafter so it dont sag.
