My garage door broke
The other day I was closing my garage door, and I heard a horrible crash inside of the garage. Now, I can't open the garage door. I squeezed into the garage thru the side door, and the spring didn't break, rather the steel cable that was (attached to the door?) is broken. To fix this, will it also involve rewinding the torsion spring? I myself will not attempt that, but, I was wondering if I could fix the door, without touching the spring. (probably not, huh?) Thanks for any help.

you'll want to call a tech.
This may not pertain to your situation, but usually when both cables come off, and you hear a big bang... that usually indicates a broken single torson spring.
Since yours isn't broken, it's still going to need to be rewound and reset. Probably not something you want to do yourself, and you'll want someone out there that will find the original cause, and make sure it doesn't happen again.
