Sear Digital Electric Garage Door Opener

Hi,

New to this site.

My question, the home I am leasing has a Sears garage door opener. The light does not come on when opening or closing.

I took the cover off and there is a switch, consisting of 3 copper strips, 2 are on one contact and touching. Of those 2, one is shaped like an "L", with the short leg a very short distance from the copper strip next to these 2. There is a small gap and if I push the copper strip next to the 2, the light comes on. The second
strip has a small wire wrapped around it. I assume this is supposed to energize and close the gap, but it isnt.

thx

that thing sounds old, you won't be able to find parts eaisly. there is some sort of coil that is supposed to actuate the contact points and turn the light on. I'm not sure what you can do, other than replacing it

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I see the coil - didn't know if it was for the door actuation or the light. I'll go to the sears site
