Best Garage Door Opener?

Hello,
I am about to close on a house. The house has a two-car garage, and I'd like to install a Garage Door Opener. I looked online and I see all types: chain-driven, belt-driven, 1/2hp, 3/4hp and so on.

You can see a picture of the garage here:

Which type of "GDO" do you recommend (durability, price, warranty...)?

Thank you in advance!

I'd recommend a new garage door.

I understand the belt drives are quiet, but chain drive more durable.
The motor size and to some extent the lift mechanism is going to depend a great deal on the construction of the door (ie it's weight).

If you want the best, get a Liftmaster 3/4 hp Belt drive. With that door as long as it is properly balanced a 1/2 hp chain drive will be more than enough.

Double door opener

So Genie is the best, is their a particular one that will open both doors, without having to buy two? Or is their a kit that you can buy? Thanks

Moni

All the major brands make good products as long as you don't buy the cheapest. Chamberlain makes Craftsman, if I remember correctly. Doorman likes Liftmaster and I know they make a good opener, but they are a little pricier in my experience, also not available at the Box stores I don't think.

You need one opener per door, but all of them give you the ability to operate both doors with one remote or keypad, so thats not an issue.

I like screw drives, even tho they take a bit of maintenance (yearly or so). I just don't like the exposed belt/chain and pulleys/gears.
