Craftman keyless remote

I have a Craftman garage door opener with a keyless remote model 139.18775. made in 1997. my problem is that when it is cold. (i live in Northern Ontario) The keyless remote does not work. When it was newer no problem, in fact my other wireless keypad work great at -20 F) I took off the back and clean the key pad and glue the back on. still the same and yes it has a new 9volt battery.
I 'm thinking maybe a resister inside is wearing out and does not like the cold. I know I can buy new for 59.99 Canadian
Any idea what I can do?

Yes, electronic componants can age. The transmitter in the remote may be weak.

The price seems pretty high just for a remote. You might look to see if one of the universal remotes would work for you. They may be available cheaper.
