I have a craftsman garage door opener about 15 years old recently the drive gear wore out. was ground down to nothing. ordered a new one and replaced this morning, but now the door will not go down. I assembled according to the instructions reconnected eveything with the door in the down position. when I energized it it came up fine, stopped when it reched the up position but now when I hit the button nothing happens wont go down. any ideas?Read More
A customer of mine has the garage door opener in the subject line. Somehow the door was jammed, a spring was broken and the pipe where the chain runs was moved.
I put everything back and the door would open and close but as soon as it closed, it would open again and stay opened. The light would flash very quickly accompanied by a clicking noise.
There are 3 settings on the motor. One is marked open, one is marked close and the third one is marked increase or decrease safety. The open and close settings are stop settings. I don't know how the safety setting works. Sometimes the motor doesn't seem to have to strength to open the door. Is that because I don't have the safety setting right? If I turn it a lot, the light stops flashing. I think it's over heating from running it so much and I have to wait until it cools. I have the cover off and it's very hot to the touch.Read More
