Garage Door electric eye

Does anybody know how to by-pass the electric safety beam on an auto door opener?
Can you explain how to do it on a genie?
NOT THAT I WOULD DO SUCH AN UNSAFE THING!
Thanks

No, there is no way to by pass the electronic eye. Thousands have tried, even electricians. They are built into the circuit board inside the opener. There are however some alternative solutions, but need to know what you are thinking and your thoughts are.

Thanks for your reply
I dropped a cinder block on the main eye and wanted to continue using the door with the outside keypad and remotes until the new eye assembly arrived.
I connected the two wires from the broken eye and it won't go down from the outside key-pad or car remotes and the function is limited to the wall unit. With the door operation disabled the door remains unlocked.

If you are close to eletornics outlet like radio shack you can try placing a resistor between the screws on the operator head where the wires from the photo eyes attach. I a cant remember the resistance for a genie, but it probably is around 500 ohms. you might have to play around with it. Sorry not much help but thats all I got.
