I understand that torsion springs that they should be installed by a pro. What I am wondering is it better to back with OEM torsion springs, or with the newer elongated universal type springs that you can pickup at the hardware store? I have a 15 year old home that has the original(had before they busted)dual torsion springs. The door is 7'h x 16'w. I have not weighed it yet, but it is probably close to 150 lbs if not more. How much would original parts & labor run compared to the other type. Is there a advantage of one more than the other as far as reliability and saftey? Any help would be appreciated.

hello
this is a good time to up date the hardware, could be other parts are ready to give up and you can be in danger of it failing some where else. Call a repitable garage Door co. and get and estimate for both.. new and to rebuild. this will help you know what to do...Good Luck

Thanks! What are the chances this maybe covered by the Home Warranty? I would hate to call and look foolish if it is one of those "You should know better" type questions.

Have any ideals?

hello
You can ony loose if you do not try, try and if not covered
it would be a good time to find out what is covered and have a look around..to make sure what is cover will not just make to the day after ....and they say sorry out of warranty.....
