Motorcycle Garage?
Hey folks, I've recently got my motorcycle cover stolen right off my bike overnight so I am really considering building some kind of shelter for my bike. My home does not have a garage, nor does it have a carport, so I wanted some kind of shelter for protection against rain, and theft....
Any suggestions on how to do it? I'm thinking of building it up next to some brick walls that divides between my neighbor's and my home. It's about 7 ft high, so I would probably match that or slightly lower. And dimensions something like 8ft L x 6ft W. I'm thinking of building it above the left tree in the picture where I think it would be a good place to go but is about half dirt, half concrete (length-wise) so I'm not sure what kind of base I need also.
I'm pretty newb to building but pretty hands on. What do you think? Pretty doable? I'm looking for any advice like what to use as base, walls, roof, etc. Any input is appreciated! Hope this was the right place for this post. Thanks!

Aren't there covers which can be locked?
Building something other than a full garage for just the bike seems like an awful lot of work.

You're right. I think there are actually, but I was just thinking if it made sense in the longrun a "garage" would be much easier to get in and out and go. As it is now, I already lock my wheels, in addition to using a cover. Locking the cover as well just seems like such a hassle on a daily basis.
I was wondering what I'd essentially be looking at in terms of cost of materials. I have a lot of free time and enjoy working on stuff, so I wouldn't mind spending time and learning how to build such a thing if it was doable.

ray2047 pretty much covered my idea except I was thinking something alongs the line of a real shed.
It won't be as good as a real garage, but it will keep the bike protected and out of sight.
Out if sight = out of mind.

Why not consider building a shed on the rear of the property, where it's not visible to street traffic? I had a similar situation many years ago, when I lived in a mobile home park in a high crime area (Santa Fe, NM), and had bought a pricey (to me) BMW motorcycle. I built a stick-frame shed with lockable exterior (solid-core) door, and the bike was never touched during my 3 years there.
Good bike, too, with me putting almost 384,000 miles on it over 19 years of ownership. Still have the BMW factory medallions to prove it.

wow! @ 384k and 19yrs of riding
I'm starting to get turned off by the idea of a shed out in front too and have considered using a shed in the back.
the biggest problem (hassle) I have with that is the side gate ground is slightly raised from the driveway concrete. not sure how exactly that happened, but there's a good 3-4 inches which makes it tough to get the bike in/out since the gate is also not very wide to push up/roll down. also, maybe a automatic gate opener would be nice....
